A British fantasy television series created by Bob Baker and Dave Martin.
Plot Summary
Roland Wright is a young teenager bullied by Ripper and his gang who hang out in the stairwell of tower block in which he shares a flat with his hippy musician father and stepmother. At school, he's picked on by the callous music masters, Spurgeon and Hawker as he performs in the choir, the snobby teachers and his classmates looking down on him for his working-class background. Fleeing Ripper and his gang one day, Roland hides in an out of order elevator that plummets to the bottom of the shaft, leaving Roland unconscious. When he wakes, he finds himself in a gloomy underworld beneath the eponymous castle from which he spends the rest of the series trying to escape while being aided and hindered by a variety of oddball characters who resemble people from his real life.
