An American fantasy television sitcom created by Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett. The alien Mork (played by Robin Williams from Mork & Mindy (1978-1982) appeared in the opening episode and Out of the Blue‘s lead character Random appeared in the Happy Days (1974-1984) episode Chachi Sells His Soul (18 September 1979).
The Happy Days episode was recorded first and was intended to act as a pilot to introduce the new character. However due to a change in scheduling the first episode of Out of the Blue was broadcast the week before the Happy Days episode and there has remained some debate as to whether the show was meant to be a spin-off or if Chachi Sells His Soul was a crossover episode.
Following a double length opening episode only seven more episodes were broadcast. A further four episodes were made but were never shown.
Premise
Trainee angel Random moves in with and becomes the guardian angel to a family while working as a high school teacher.
