Plot Summary

Jack Greylock elopes with his friend David Drene’s wife but she is so stricken with remorse that she kills herself. Greylock tries to rekindle his friendship with Drene but when he learns of his treachery and when Greylock falls in love with his new model, Cecile Waite, Drene hatches his revenge. Drene threatens Cecile and Greylock pleads for her life, agreeing to kill himself at midnight on Christmas Eve if Drene spares her. Drene is driven mad by his experiences but recovers in time to tell Cecile what he’s done and she uses telepathy to prevent his suicide.
