Plot Summary

A man tells a reporter four strange stories about his home town, Oldfield: an old man falls in love with a much younger woman, even refusing to let her go after death; a wounded man flees his creditors and stumbles upon a hermit who has discovered the secret of eternal life; a carnival sideshow performer falls in love with an outsider and pays the ultimate price; Civil War soldiers are held captive by a house full of sinister orphans.
