Steed is on the trail of much-feared enemy agent the Unicorn, tracking him to France. A failed attampt on Steed's life leaves the Unicorn dead and, fearing the impact this will have on the international community, keeps up the pretense that the Unicorn is still alive. But his gang kidnaps a member of the royal family, demanding the return of their supposedly captured boss.
