Plot Summary

In 1828, members of the bankrupt Pyncheon family fight over the ancestral home, Seven Gables. Jaffrey Pyncheon frames his brother Clifford's for murder and Hepzibah, Clifford's fiancée, waits twenty years for him to be released. But while away, Clifford and his cellmate, abolitionist Matthew, have been plotting the perfect revenge.
