An American horror film directed by George A. Romero.

Plot Summary

As a child, Thad Beaumont undergoes an operation to remove a tumour from his brain that turns out to be the remains of a twin brother that never developed. Beaumont goes on to become a hugely successful novelist, leading two creative lives as an author of respected fiction and, using the pseudonym George Stark, an equally successful writer of horror novels. He decides to ‘kill' George off, even staging a mock funeral – but soon a local man turns up dead, Beaumont begins to have a recurring nightmare he hasn't had since childhood and and starts receiving phone calls from a man claiming to be George Stark…
