An American/Italian horror film directed by Sergio Martino and Miller Drake. It is a re-edit of the Italian fantasy film L'isola degli uomini pesce (1979) with additional scenes shot in the States. This entry only records the additional crew for the new version – see the original film for more credits. When this version of the film was re-released it was re-titled Screamers and a new trailer was made featuring a newly-shot gore scene which initially didn't feature in the film itself. The scene was subsequently inserted into theatrical prints.
Plot Summary
A group of prisoners and guards survive the sinking of their prison ship in the Caribbean and are washed ashore on what seems to be a deserted island. But they soon run into a Nemo-like nobleman and his young wife who are trying to raise the treasures of Atlantis with the help of the South pacific islanders they've mutated into scaly fishmen.
