An American horror/science fiction film directed by Erle C. Kenton. It was the first screen adaptation of H.G. Wells' 1896 novel The Island of Dr. Moreau and was banned on three occasions by the British Board of Film Censors, in 1933, 1951 and 1957. It was eventually passed with an X certificate on 9 July 1958.

Plot Summary

Edward Parker is rescued after his ship is wrecked and is rescued by another ship captained by Captain Davies. Parker is thrown of the ship after a fracas and finds himself on the tiny island run by scientist Dr Moreau. There, he finds that Moreau has been experimenting on the local population, creating a hideous race of human/animal hybrids.
