A British television science fiction serial directed by Paddy Russell from scripts by Malcolm Hulke. To preserve the surprise the first episode was broadcast as just Invasion and a rumour has long circulated that the master tape was destroyed by the BBC by mistake, believing that it was part of the Patrick Troughton story The Invasion. However, the master tapes for The Invasion had already been wiped by 1972 so this looks unlikely to be true. The story marks the first appearance of 's futuristic car, the and was the first to feature (albeit uncredited) Robert Holmes as script editor.

Premise

The Doctor and Sarah Jane arrive back on Earth to find London deserted and come under attack from dinosaurs. A group of fanatical environmentalists want to clear London of people and are using dinosaurs to do it.
