PLOT SUMMARY

Former teacher, writer and alcoholic Jack Torrance takes a job as the Winter caretaker at the remote Overlook Hotel, a luxury resort high in the Colorado Rockies. He takes his wife, Wendy, and son, Danny, with him hoping that the seclusion will give him time to put his writing career back together. But it soon becomes clear that there's something malignant haunting the corridirs of the Overlook, something that is gradually possessing Jack, something that has been woken by Danny's psychic power, his "shining"...
