SUMMARY

A courier carrying documents vital to the Allied war effort goes missing on board a train to Washington. Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson travel from London to try to unravel the mystery and return the documents to their rightful owners before it's too late...

CAPSULE REVIEW

Now this was more like it! Universal finally got into their stride with their third Holmes film, with the excellent George Zucco back in harness as the villain, a great supporting cast and a more likeable script. The propaganda and moral boosting is still there but it fits into the plot more comfortably, playing second fiddle to the mystery which is exactly as it should be.
