PLOT SUMMARY

Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson are summoned to Dartmoor to investigate the mysterious death of a member of the wealthy Baskerville family. He tries to protect Sir Henry Baskerville from the family curse, to be killed by a gigantic, spectarl hound.

CAPSULE REVIEW

A dreadful version of the story, completely miscast, the story unnecessarily tampered with and an appalling computer generated hound. Roxburgh is terrible as Holmes (co-star Richard E. Grant would have been so much better) and the tinkering with the plot is guaranteed to annoy anyone with even a passing knowledge of the original. Not quite the worst adaptation of the novel (the Matt Frewer starring 2000 version and the Dudley Moore / Peter Cook / Paul Morrisey version from 1978 are far worse) but it may well feel like it is. Awful.
