His wife Catherine is horrified to learn that his staff are about to enact an ancient pagan ritual that requires the marquis to sacrifice himself to save the crops. CAPSULE REVIEW Niven looks rather uncomfortable in this routine chiller, as do most of the rest of the cast. Thompson handles all this with his customary lack of finesse, though the unusual settings and the starry, though admittedly unenthusiastic looking, cast make it less of an endurance test than some of his other works.
