SUMMARY

Astrophysics lecturer Neil Tannahill receives a note from former Doomwatch head Dr Spencer Quist that leads to him becoming involved in the uncovering of a conspiracy involving Soviet nuclear waste being stored at a British nuclear facility.

CAPSULE REVIEW

A watchable enough attempt to resurrect the classic 70s ecological thriller, though one that didn't quite gel as it should. It was a solid foundation on which to build a series which has, as yet, sadly failed to materialise. The inclusion of original Doomwatcher Quist was a nice touch providing the necessary link with the past. It labours somewhat under the yoke of the vastly superior Edge of Darkness (1985), though one can't fault it for ambition. A good effort and it would have been nice to see what might have developed had it been followed through.
